Since their introduction in 1999, the Ford Super Duty has
become well known for durability and lasting endurance. Until
now Skyjacker has produced 2-8” lifts for the Super
Duty using its Softride® design leaf springs. The Skyjacker
Softride design leaf springs are well known for their longevity
and extremely smooth ride. But the time has come to go a
step further.
The new patent pending Platinum Series Z-Link Coil-Over
Conversion allows for the removal of the front factory equipped
leaf springs, and the installation of a Z-Link (4 link) Coil-Over
suspension. With a leaf spring design, when the axle moves
up or down, it requires the rear shackle to move back and
forth. This only allows for a short range of movement resulting
in limited wheel travel and a harsher ride. By removing the
front leaf springs you also eliminate the friction commonly
found when the leaves of the spring pack flex against each
other.
With the installation of the new Z-Link package the axle
is allowed to move farther and more freely allowing for the
best ride quality possible. The new upper and lower control
arms come with greaseable polyurethane bushings. The control
arms “long arm” design allows for a miraculous
amount of wheel travel and a longer arc of axle movement
through out suspension travel. The Coil-Over shock is equipped
with a 7075-aluminum alloy rod end fitted with Teflon lined
stainless spherical bearings to allow maximum wheel travel
without binding. Each Softride® Coil spring is preset
and formed from 5160H alloy ensuring higher tensile strength
and longer life. With the combination of the Coil Over and
control arms “long arm” design the ride quality
is simply amazing.
